Since our charter in 1920, American Legion Post 297 has been welcoming veterans from all branches of our Armed Forces. Today, we continue to welcome all military personnel serving our country. Joining our Post enables you to continue serving your God, Country and Community. Our mission is to implement the goals, aspirations, dreams, peace and blessings for our country, friends and families embodied in our preamble below.
To the wonderful patriotic citizens of the Union, Missouri community, thank you for your support of American Legion Post 297. Help us to continue sponsoring Scholarships for our children; give aid and assistance to our local needy Veterans, and their families. Help us to continue to support financially worthy community programs and projects

National Poppy Day is the Friday before Memorial day, May 28th this year. Due to COVID restrictions, Auxiliary Unit 297 will be unable to sell poppies, collecting donations for veterans. They have a donation cup at the Shipyards Bar where you can get a poppy and make your donation.

National Vietnam War Veterans Day is observed every year on March 29 and is a way to thank and honor our nation’s Vietnam veterans and their families for their service and sacrifice. You can visit the Viet Nam Memorial Fund Page for more information on their virtual Commemoration on March 29, 2021.
